Family businesses are unique institutions combining the family structure with a business. Many family business founders do not consider the succession plan or even identify the right successor to the business. With over 70% of family businesses failing after the first generational succession, it is important to prioritize the process and consider all aspects such as being prepared, establishing a succession plan, and creating a governance model.
